Year one at Natsem.

Year one at Natsem.

One year ago I started at National Seminars… I took the job because I saw the chance for change. I saw myself helping to administer that change, and (although it has been slow… this IS the business world) there is starting to be some REAL change happening around the office. The invention of a new product called STAR12 was not my idea, but I have helped to define it. I have helped invent, imagine and expand upon what the product is and will be in the future… I am excited about that opportunity and I am excited that I feel a little bit of freedom in my work and I feel “listened to” for the first time in a long time.

I think that it took me a while to shed that “design school” idea that I HAD to work in some artsy-fartsy design house or advertising agency… It took me a while to understand that I was not that kind of designer (there is nothing wrong with that kind of designer). It took me a while to understand that I was the only person that I needed to make happy with my career… I am alive if I feel that I am creating, and I feel very ALIVE right now (lets see how long I can make this last).

Best jobs I have had:
– 304 Media (Great variety of work)
– OnCard (Fun little start-up company that failed – I think)
– CherryOne (FUN environment and FAST-paced)
– KU dept of special ed (my first web design job… I had no idea what I was doing)

Worst jobs I have had:
– Plattform (the people that I worked directly with were the best, but management needs to checked for learning disabilities!)
– Kinkos (Customer service)
– Atlas Pen (I was there for one week and had to quit because it was so TERRIBLE! There was this CRAZY old lady -I’m talking 90 plus years old- that was the BIGGEST BITCH ON THE PLANET!)

In my never ending search for different sized bananas, the peeps at work have uncovered this little gem for me! The top banana is normal sized… Isn’t that little banana cute? Does it not WARM YOUR HEART? … You love it!

I am off to Salina for the wedding of my friend Laura on Saturday… Laura is my friend Chris’ little sister. I think this will be the first wedding that I will attend since my divorce that I will not want to throw-up at! So that is good… Not that I had any problem with the people that were getting married, I was just a little down on the institution for a little while, but I am back on the pro-wedding bandwagon.

Attending a wedding is pretty fun, and attending THIS wedding will be AMAZING since I consider Chris’s family my own… I am thinking about going to the vintage clothing store tonight and seeing if I can find some kind of awesome suit or something.

I can’t BELIEVE that you jerks did not comment on the “In you buns” song lyrics!!! What is wrong with you people! … I will forgive you if you help me move 🙂

What? No Daniel Mirror on your list? That job for me was the absolute worst. You had your tunes and computer and lost yorself in the design POP world….I had Creepy George, Freaky Larry and Courtney the C%$t sitting in front of me. The worst nightmares I’ve ever had involve dreaming that I still work there..haha!

Congrats on your survival. You shall succeed where lesser men have failed. Avenge me.
