Bedtime

Bedtime

So I bought a new mattress on Friday night at 12:30 A.M. on Woot. Some people might think it’s a bad idea to buy a big ticket item after a semi-long night of drinking. Some might say that it’s a bad idea to buy a mattress without laying on it first. Some might say “JOE, YOU SPENT MONEY! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!” … And the truth of the matter is that whoever says that would probably be right, but I took a shot and I think it is going to be great. I had a gut feeling and went with it. I have been eye-balling these mattresses for several months and my back has been hurting me for a heck of a lot longer than that.

Queen Size Memory Foam Mattress with Ventilation System

It’s weird to be putting together a Christmas list in October. I feel like I have to try to think of stuff that I want, but I can do without for a few months and then might not get at all… It’s quite a gamble. What if I say I want something and then I see it on sale the next day?

I bough Salmon Burgers at the store this week… I will let you know how they are.

I can’t stop listening to the new Avett Brothers album… It’s is SOOOOO freaking good. The lyrics are so right on.

Music Reviews:

David Gray: Draw The Line || 3 of 5 Bananas

This is a nice little album, nothing really mind-blowing, but a good listen. I have not been able to latch onto any one song… If you like his past stuff you are going to enjoy this one.

Electric Light Orchestra: Eldorado || 5 of 5 Bananas

One of my new favorites. This album is amazing on vinyl and absolutely ROCKS in the car… I love the concept of the album and have begun to think of this as Darkside Of The Moon “Light”… Next time you take a road-trip, throw this on and TURN IT UP!!!!!!

Dan Fogelberg: Phoenix || 4 of 5 Bananas

The title song on this album is a GRAND SLAM… I had the thought that it could be my new theme song.

Monsters Of Folk: Eldorado || 4 of 5 Bananas

Give this one a try… Tight harmonies, great flow, original sound, nice acoustic guitars… A great album for Fall. Favorite song: Baby Boomer.

Phish: Joy || 4 of 5 Bananas

There is something so nice about Trey Anastasio’s voice… Again, a really nice album, nothing truly mind blowing, but a great listen if you like Phish… I like Phish so it gets the extra Banana from me.

Belle And Sebastian: Boy With The Arab Strap || 4 of 5 Bananas

I have had this album for a long time, but have only recently fallen in love with it. My favorite moments of the album are at the end when the songs “A Space Boy Dream”, “Dirty Dream Number Two” and “Boy With The Arab Strap” blend together in an electronic jazz, spoken word, and pop blend.

Peter Bjorn & John: Living Things || 3 of 5 Bananas

Swedish group that has kind of a Postal Service vibe to it… A few of the songs are really good and for the most part the album is really listenable… When I am in the mood for this kind of music I have been going with The Faded Paper Figures.

Kate Nash: Made Of Bricks || 3 of 5 Bananas

Regina Spektor with 1/3 the musical talent and song writing ability… That’s kind of a tough comparison as I am sure that Kate Nash is going more for a Lilly Allen kind of sound than Regina… The first song on this album has a few of the loops that I have used from Apple’s Garageband application, which I find charming in a weird way… All-in-all the album is pretty listenable if you like “chick” music. Her voice is pretty and unique… Seems like she is finding her sound… I have a feeling that her next album is going to be killer.

I CANNOT believe the mattress situation! You are an enigma 🙂

Also, is that Eldorado album the one with the really weird cover?

    Hi Joe,
I have slept on one of those memory foam mattresses several times. They are the bomb! So comfortable they are hard to get out of in the morning, I have also really been enjoying ELO lately.
