babaganoush!

babaganoush!

Cap and I went to The Hangover on Saturday night… Pretty funny movie. I am sure it is one of those movies that will get funnier the more you watch it… There was a little too much full frontal male nudity for my tastes (I prefer NONE!!!).

—————–

Went for a run yesterday at the track by my house… The stadium was completely empty so I did something that I have never done before. I took my shirt off to run. Truthfully, I needed the sun on my ghostly skin and it turned out being a pretty good combination of activities.

I think I got the perfect amount of sun.

Places to go for fireworks in KC: I am debating where to go! Any native KC peeps have a suggestion?

—————–

I have been thinking about trying to eat at The Jerusalem Cafe. I got on Yelp to read some reviews… I had to Google MANY of the items on the menu, including falafel, hummus and babaganoush.

Falafel (pronounced /fəˈlɑːfl̩/; Arabic: فلافل‎ ArFalafel.ogg falāfil (help·info), or in Egyptian and Sudanese Arabic, طعمية Ta’miyya) is a fried ball or patty made from spiced chickpeas and/or fava beans. Originally from Egypt,[1] falafel is a popular form of fast food in the Middle East, where it is also served as a mezze.

After finding out what a Mezze was (appetizer) I started to dissect the definition of Falafel:
Fried ball – Fried anything should be good right? Looks like a hush-puppy. LOVE HUSH PUPPIES!
Spiced chickpeas and/or fava beans – Honestly I had to google BOTH of these two things (chickpea? sounds like something you would find in the woman’s bathroom {insert laugh here}). Neither one is all that intimidating to me. Good to go.
Fast food in the Middle East – How could you go wrong with that?

As for the rest of the menu, I am COMPLETELY CONFUSED! I never thought that broadening my horizons would require so much research! Hahahaha… I think I will just walk up to the counter and ask for chicken.

I think Corporate Woods for the nice setting. The Great Mall of Olathe also has fireworks if you like sitting in a mall parking lot.

love some falafel/hummus. Get the tahini sauce and if they have a good bureka (stuffed with cheese and sun-dried tomatos is the best) try that too… there’s a place near us that has possibly the best ever. Hand made by Jews every day. I love it so.

You should go sit on the top of the building at 38th and Wyandotte. That has a pretty sweet view of ghetto fireworks.

If you start to eat and enjoy all these ethnic foods at this point in our friendship I am going to be happy and yet slightly grumpy that it has taken you this long to try everything…however, I remain supportive of all your endeavors 🙂

Whatever you do.. don’t walk in to the cafe and ask for cheese on a meat sandwich.. it’s not even permitted to be in the same fridge or the same plate.. since your broadening your horizons this year.. maybe by next your you’ll be ready to sit down and eat Passover with us.. that will really get you jumping.. research the gifelte fish..
