Tear down the wall.

Tear down the wall.

So I had this crazy moment last week when I went out to visit my Mom and Dad at my brothers place… I told them that I could hang out with them till 5:30 then I was going to meet one of my buddies from PlattForm for dinner… I sit down to start eating lunch and my Mother looks at me and says “so this dinner… is it with a girl? Is it a date?”

OH SHIT!!! I think in my head. Do I lie? OH COURSE it is a date, but how will my Mom react to this news. Will she disown me? Will I get a lecture? Can she handle this subject? Ahhhhh!!!

I decide to be straight with her… Yes, Mom it is a date. “I CAN’T GET ANYTHING BY YOU!” I say in a defeated voice… I brace myself… She looks at me… and smiles… I look at her… and smile… She says “that’s great” … I exhale. Shhhhhhhhhh…

We talk about the fact that I have been seeing someone for about a month and a half… She asks me every question you can think of. She tells me that she wants me to be happy. She calls my father up from the basement and makes me tell him… Similar smile and even MORE questions.

… Here is the deal. I have been sort of a chicken shit to tell the world that I have moved on romantically. I was not sure that you could handle it. I was not sure if you would hate me. I was not sure if you were ready for it… But if my parents are ready for it, then you should be ready for it… This is the final warning to the people of my former life. Things are different now… I am different now. I want you to stay in my life and I need you to love the new version of me… Because it is fun to GROW!

I must say I’m pro the new, less-chicken-shit version of Joe!

In fact, I thought of making a shirt to wear around that says “Less Chicken Shit” on the front and “More Joe” on the back… but then I figured “More Joe” on my back might be a bad thing… then again, it might not.

Anyway, I’m pro your moving on and glad this new hot chick makes you happy. Bring her to NYC, we’ll have good times. And anyone who doesn’t like the “new” (sexy as usual) Joe is a dooooooche.

I hope you don’t keep news to yourself anymore. I feel bad that you thought we would not be happy for you and for Kody getting a great guy like you. You deserve to be happy. Welcome to the new Joe. We love you
