Screaming Marathon Begins

Screaming Marathon Begins

Names

So my friend Chris had his first baby on Monday… I thought he (the baby) might have the same birthday as me, but no luck. Welcome to the planet Earth, Corbin Banninger. I am sure that you will find your accommodations comfortable.

I have known Chris for the better part of my life… So needless to say, it is a pretty big deal in my mind that he is now a father. For the last few years we have not talked as much as we should have, but the pride that I have for Chris is immense. He is no longer the power hitting first baseman for the Falcons that I grew up with and used to make mixed tapes with on Friday nights. He is Dr. Chris… Future little league dad, home owner and upstanding citizen… I can’t wait to meet your boy. Congratulations.

I swear, I didn’t even know that I was capable of having offspring until about a year ago… I knew how the conception process worked and everything, but the thought of having a child to take care of was completely foreign. I guess that it still is. Just admitting that I am at the “proper” child having age is a SCARRY thing, and a BIG step… Why do I still consider myself a 19 year old? Well, I am sure that it has something to do with the fact that I am the youngest child and the product of years of pampering. Why would I want to have a child around to soak up some of the pampering that I am used to… Quite frankly, my parents gave me a lot of attention growing up and I know how much I need to function properly.

Look at it this way; Carrie has been in Sweden for like three weeks… I am a freaking emotional mess… I cried at an animated film last night for cripes sake. If I can’t keep it together watching cartoons, I KNOW I can not keep it together enough to be a father.

Final thought :: Baby’s scare the SHIT out of me.

Oh… Did you see that my name is holding strong at #9 on the list? I RULE!

Watched “The Triplettes of Belleville” a few days ago. Very good animated movie. Does not crack my top four…
In my top 10 though.

Break a leg on opening night in Sweden. Carrie, I am so proud of you… You can stay at my place when you get home.

Congrats to Chris and Julie…wow, you’re right, it is totally weird that they have a baby now. Last time I saw them, we were sleeping on their apartment floor in St. Louis and Chris was still in school. Now he’s Dr. Banniger w/baby Corbin.

Just out of curiosity, did they name the baby after Corbin Bernsen, you know, Arnie Becker from LA Law? Because if they did, that’s so cool.

That is exactly what I thought of when I heard the name.
