Night Light

Night Light

“When I was a kid”… I used to have sleep overs at several of my friends houses. The houses that I used to sleep over at the most were:

Jeremy Clayes
Josh Chamoff
Ben Houltberg
Neil Oliver
T.J. Stack

I remember waking up in the middle of the night and having that disorientation of not knowing were I was. The feeling that my parents and my home were miles away on the complete opposite side of town sometimes scarred the hell out of me in those moments… I remember feeling so alone that I would freeze from fear and think that I was going to freak out. The room that I was in would start to spin in a gyrating blitz of confusion, as if I were on any alien planet with no oxygen… Then, in that moment of desperation, I would focus on the night light that was always placed strategically in one place or the other… Oh the night light… The life raft of hope that everything would soon be light and make some sort of sense again… The Rosetta Stone of understanding the madness around me… Singular proof that light would again shine and everything would be OK… I LOVED THAT FREAKING NIGHT LIGHT.

When I get into bed, I always have to lay on my back for at least three to five minutes before I change positions… A new thing that I have started in the last year is sleeping on my stomach without a pillow…

On a different but similar note… I like to sleep with my feet sticking out from the bottom of the covers and have a fan blowing directly on them… Do I have the hottest feet on the planet?

This particular section of todays post falls into the “WHO GIVES A SHIT CATEGORY” if you are keeping track at home.

Last night I dreamt that one of my friends emailed me a “personality report card” and a two paragraph summary of why I got the marks that I did… I woke up at 5:06am to write the specifics of this dream down so that I did not forget it… I am not sure why, I guess that I felt like there was some sort of “deep” reason why I would have this dream.

Anyway, I remember having the feeling of knowing that I was going to fail… Maybe my sub-conscience thinks that I have a shitty personality… Hmmmmmm…

When I was in High School my favorite subject was History.

It’s pretty cool that I made a reference to the Rosetta Stone above…. I was not trying to do it, the comparison just popped into my head…. Have YOU ever made a reference to the Rosetta Stone… I didn’t think so! In case you didn’t know, I am REALLY smart and THIS proves it.

Check out the band “Phoenix” when you get a chance… Their album called “It’s Never Been Like That” is really great… I would like to thank Emelie’s sister Caroline for introducing them to me while I was in Sweden. Thanks.

So Lance and Nathan are on their way into town this weekend… “Joe’s Pet Project” is playing in Salina and Manhattan next weekend so the band is back to brush up on a few tunes before the big shows… Expect a lot of pictures the next few days.
