I think that “Double Dare” was the most overrated TV show of my youth. The show was never as exciting or as crazy as the commercials made you think it was… I tuned it to see some kids diving into deep pools of pudding while getting pooped on by a giant Yak… and all I got was some stupid kid trying to balance a ping pong ball on his nose… Why did they have to wear helmets for these LAME “stunts”?

I double dared myself to admit that that show SUCKED.

“You Can’t Do That On Television” on the other hand was everything that Double Dare was not… YCDTOT was Entertaining… I used to nearly wet myself from laughter when someone would get water or slime dumped on their head… This show was inventive and funny.

Funny you should post this. I get a channel called GUTS that plays all the original Nickelodeon game shows. I tuned in to DD the other day and it TOTALLY sucked. The questions were all so easy and the physical challenges lacklusterat best. I think that DD was just trying to ride on the coat tails of the green slime success that YCDTOT had. I wish they would release YCDTOT on DVD. That and Pinwheel. Oh…and Mr. Wizards World.

Anyone remember Dungeons and Dragons the animated series? Where the kids rode the roller coaster and got trapped in the magical world of D & D? It was really dumb, but I LOVED it!
