78, Jam, and I are going to do our favorite Friday ritual of going to Jacks Hamburger Place… eating our asses off on the BEST hamburger’s in the world… and then driving to the super movie plex to catch a flick. Tonight we will be seeing “The Corpse Bride”… correction… “Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride”. I have to admit… the fact that they have to attach Tim Burton’s name directly onto the title of the film has me worried a bit about the script. Sure, I think that the guy is a genius, and Danny Elfman is one of the truly gifted humans on this planet, but all this celebrity’s doing voices, and director’s names placed directly in the title have me worried. I will let you know.

The fact that Burton chose to use stop motion animation opposed to the typical (and most often CRAPPY) computer animation is admirable. For this reason alone I feel that the film will be worth the admission fee. I was reading last night that the film has 24 frames (pictures) per second of film (I believe that the standard is 12)… This guy worked for two weeks on five seconds of footage. The amount of patience that is necessary for this art form is astounding.

I am going to go home and change into my “Nightmare Before Christmas” shirt, go to the theatre, and give it a try… I hope it rocks.

this movie is tim burton’s best. handsdown. we saw it last week and i can’t wait to see it again. i believe, for the first time, burton NAILED the emotion of the film and its characters. that, and, well, every SINGLE shot is beautiful and magical. and while there IS computer animation in it, it is well done and tastefully placed.

Yeah, it rocked. The tunes in Nightmare are better and who can beat Jack Skeleton. But, visually Corpse Bride blows Nightmare away. The scenes are amazing and it’s a great script really. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
